Question:
HELP!!!
I have put on 6# & I don't know why. I can eat a little more then I did a yr. ago but I really am not overdoing it. I also feel hungary soon after eating. Can anybody tell me how I can start losing again? I have 11# to goal & I'm almost 21 months post-op. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated. — socco58 (posted on December 5, 2002)

Hi Susan, just read your profile-its nice that you keep it updated. And I
love the wedding pictures-you looked great! I think you raise an
interesting issue for those of us who are still on the losing track, and
that is, that one day, it becomes difficult to sustain the weight loss or
to continue the weight loss. It is a problem that many post-ops a few years
out have. I have been told that at about the 2-5 year post-op mark, you do
gain back 10 percent of what you lost before stabilizing - thats about 12
pounds for you. To continue losing, though, let me ask, how is your protein
intake, your snacking, your water intake and exercise? I've heard that
when the pounds start back, to increase the protein (supplement if you have
to), increase the water and exercise and cut back on carbs and
snacking-geez, sounds like a real diet, doesn't it?? Good luck to you.

Try being only 9.5 months post op and gaining back six lbs and being still
about 60 lbs from yuour goal. Sorry dear, dont mean to belittle your
situation. I know how bad a 6 lb gain feels at any stage of the game.
Just thought maybe seeing how pathetic I feel about it happening to me
where I am at, might make ya feel a little bit better about it at your
stage of the game. The drill is the same regardless of where we're at,
watch that diet, drink that wated, exercise, exercie, exercise - heavy
sigh.

Let me ask you what I always ask our support group.
Are you getting in 64 oz or more of water, are you doing any type of
exercise, are you eating 5-6 small meals with protein as you main food. I
always tell people to keep a food journal for a couple of weeks, and be
totally honest with everything that goes in your mouth from water to even
sugar free candies...
You might be slipping and not even know it. Also keep track of your
exercise on that food list. Then you can see if you need to make any
adjustments.
You look fantastic.
