Question:
I am 9months post-op...and today I am having extreme pain in the middle of my back,
It's taking my breath away...Is this normal, has this happened to anyone else? WHat could this be, I know that I do have a gallstone,,,is this an attack? — tylerswife (posted on September 26, 2002)

I have the same problem. At first I thought I had pulled something in my
back, but my doctors told me it is probably my gallbladder going. The good
news it if you need your gall bladder removed you may be able to get a free
tummy tuck at the same time. If you are already having an operation most
insurance companies will put through the tt too because it is only another
couple hundred dollars.

I just quit my job to go back to school and only have medical coverage
through the University's "quack shack"...no insurance until
January 1st...which bums me out because I believe I might have gall issues
too...EXTREME back pain on the right side. Drat. lol Oh, 8 months out too.

Rebecca, if the pain is like a knife stuck in your back that radiates clear
through to your chest then "yes" it's probably a gallbladder
attack (especially since you know you have a stone). Been there, done
that- thought I was dying at the time.

There is a possiblity that it could be your gallbladder, I had to have mine
removed, and I experienced the same kind of pain and I was diagnosed with
an ulcer. The best thing would porbably be to have an ultra sound of your
gallbladder and an EDG to see if you have an ulcer. Call your doctor soon,
because either way you don't want to put yourself into danger of your
gallbladder bursting or an ulcer bleeding out. Better to be on the safe
side and have this addresseed by your physician.
