Question:
Muscle spams at 3 1/2 months post-op?
I saw someone else post a question about muscle spasms right after surgery, so I thought I would post again for some possible new information. I've been struggling with pain for 3 months now in my abdomen and back. My doctor thinks it's muscle spasms, so I'm taking 160 mg of Dicyclomine a day. It helps somewhat, but I'm also taking 3 vicodin ES a day for the pain. Has anyone experienced this before? Right after surgery, everything was feeling pretty good and I was eating with no problems. Then at about 3 weeks post-op the pain started, and then my gallbladder went bad. Since I've had my gallbladder removed, the pain continues on and on and on. Does anyone have any thoughts? Yes, I've had MANY tests and everything keeps coming back normal. Thanks for your help! — Christine L. (posted on July 14, 2002)

Hi Christine...Just a thought for you. Prior to WLS I had left side
abdominal pain that was unrelenting. Went through tests for almost two
years to finally find a Dr. who took it seriously and they found a kidney
stone that did not show up on tests that was very large. It was too large
too to dissolve or blast so I had surgery to remove it and have had no
problems since. Since we are more prone to kidney stones after WLS or
rather have to be cautious about drinking water, etc., you might want to
explore if this could be a problem. Just a thought. Andrea
