Question:
Could this pain be from scar tissue?

Were you tested for Kidney stones? I developed them about a month and a half after my open RNY. The stones can't always be seen with an ultrasound but they can do other types of tests. A stone the size of a grain of sand can hurt like you wouldn't believe. The uriter (spelling?) wraps around your sides and comes down to your groin area which may be why you are experiencing the pain in your back as well as your sides and front.
