Your normal, both me and Jen had the same problem. It must be a energy level thing or something, its common and goes away in time. I didnt find anything that helped, but dont exercise much before bedime, that makes it worse....

I had insomnia after my hysterectomy. It drove me crazy. I am a little worried about having it after wls. After one week of not sleeping, I called my dr and he gave me a sleeping pill. I took it for two nights only and I was fine after that. I was sorry I waited so long to call the doctor. Sweet dreams and I hope this helps.

I had the exact same problem. I would toss and turn. Any little noise or movement would wake me up and then I would be wide awake, several times a night. I thought it would drive me crazy. I would sometimes get up and have a hot cup of tea(decaf) and come here to this site. There were many nights like that. I think that it is our body adjusting to the extra energy, and we just don't need as much sleep. Now at 3 months I am having the opposite problem, just really exhausted and have a hard time getting things done. This is definitely an interesting journey. I want my energy back. Enjoy your journey!

You're right.. your body is tired..but your mind is still WIDE awake - especially at this time. Going through your head is stuff like: "I wonder if enough weight will come off before summer?"....I wonder if my incision is healing properly?"...."I wonder how in the WORLD I'm going to get all of that water down tomorrow?"...."I wonder if I'm going to have to get my boobs done?"...."I wonder if I'll be able to FINALLY wear a size 8 to the family reunion this fall?"... etc..etc.. It's a WHIRLING DERVISH in there!!! I had the same thing happen to me. Unfortunately, I couldn't just 'toss and turn' because I was keeping my hubby awake! SO.. if I couldn't get back to sleep in 15 minutes or so.. I'd get UP. Go pick up a good book to read. Turn on the TV for a little while. Balance your checkbook. Whatever. When you're tired, you can go back to bed. At only 12 days post-op, even if you DO have to get up in the morning.. NOBODY is going to give you any grief about taking a nap later in the morning.. or in the afternoon. (at least, they'd BETTER not! LOL) If it continues for TOO long (say, a week or more) you might want to mention it to your physician. Maybe he/she has something to help you through this 'rough patch'.. GOOD LUCK

I also had insomnia in the weeks after I got home. I started getting it after I stopped all pain meds. My MD told me that it was a rebound effect from all the anesthesia and pain meds. Took about a week for me to start sleeping better. I also think that my lower activity level during that time had somehting to do with it. Call your MD and see if they have any advice!
