Question:
The past few days I seem to be having a problem keeping food & liquids down.
I will be 10 months post-op the 19th & up to now I've had no problems. I'm down 109#. Now I've been throwing up a brown liquid & it leaves a burning sensation in my throat.I have no pain, but there is a feeling of something stuck in my throat. Has this ever happened to anybody? What should I do? I'm at my wits end. Thanks Susan — socco58 (posted on January 2, 2002)

I don't know if this could be the same thing but I will tell you what
happened to me. I had a stricture and was throwing up a brown liquid and
it had what looked like coffee grounds in it. I was told to go to the ER
by my surgeons nurse and it ended up being blood that was brown. The blood
was from a tear in my stomach. They had a fancy shmancy name for it but I
don't remember. It would be odd for you to have a stricture as late as 10
months, but I guess it is possible. To prevent acid from causing further
damage to the tear they put me on liquid pepcid. It was healed within 2
weeks as I had to be scoped again and they were able to check on the
progress. Please be seen about this.
