Question:
Has anyone with Federal BC/BS had the fobi pouch procedure done?

If you have, and the doctor is a PPO physician, how did they pay? Just wondering if the fobi pouch is covered under Federal BC/BS.    — Teresa S. (posted on September 5, 2001)

FYI, the Fobi Pouch is RNY surgery. If they approve RNY, you should be good to go with the Fobi. My surgeon does what he calls RNY, but it is the Fobi, and I had BC/BS of ND.

teresa i have a surgery date scheduled with dr fobi next month. i am not going to be keeping the appointment because he is NOT a bc/bs provider & therefore does not accept their payment as payment in full. he wants me to pay $7000 out of pocket. i have a consult appointment with a surgeon who is a bc/bs provider & will be accepting whatever my federal bc pays with no other costs to me. u have to do ur homework & research drs who r bc providers & do the fobi pouch 'method'. call bc & ask them for a provider directory. if there r none near ur home call bc again & request a provider directory for out of ur area. remember, fed bc/bs covers u nationwide but at the rate of the area u go to. by the way, the dr i have a consult with has already received my pre-certification & it took less than 48 hours. good luck in ur journey.
