I have also been at a stand still for a while you are not alone, I had
surgery April 30th and have only lost 53 lbs, I am also afraid this is it
for me..I hope its gets better.
I still have at least 40 more pounds to go, I hope I get there..keep me
posted on your status and good luck!

I had my surgery 2/19/2001 and lost about 80 pounds by June 19th but the
scale has not moved since so I have been on an 11 week plateau. I still
have about 50 to go and I wonder often if this is it for me. We just have
to make sure that we keep eating right and exercising and hopefully the
scales will start moving again...I know it is so hard to keep
believing...but we can't give up on ourselves.

I was on a 6 week plateau from 3 weeks to 9 weeks out from surgery. I had
surgery on May 22nd and had the DS. I tried to up my water intake and that
seemed to do the trick. So I dont know if it was more water or just time to
lose again, But i know what you are feeling. I made myself crazy wondering
why the surgery wasnt working for me. I have lost as of today71 pounds.
hang in there.

yes, Bonnie...I'm the plateau Queen. The best advice I can give you is
just to stay away from the scale. No kidding. Don't weigh. Let the way
you feel and the way your clothes fit be your guide. If you have dieted
your entire life, like I have, your body is real resistant to letting go of
the weight. Of course, it has no real choice, but it tries to play little
tricks, like holding on to water for as long as possible. Eventually it
gives up the weight. My scale moved in fits and starts. Nothing for four
weeks, then 12 pounds. Nothing for 6 weeks, then 15 pounds. If you weigh
every day you will become very depressed and go a little cuckoo. If you
weigh only once a month, or even more seldom, you will be just fine. Trust
me.

Yup, been there and done that; I plateaued for over 8 weeks. Somebody
mentioned throwing a towel over the scale--that sounds like the best
advice. I was given a prescription for Xenical, just what I needed, more
unpleasant side effects. I can't wait until my December 6th appt with the
doubting doc who prescribed the Xenical, when he sees I've lost 25 lbs+,
and never filling the prescription.
