Question:
What is the best treatment for foul breath in the early post op stages?

I am just over one week out and my family says my breath is absolutely awful, and I don't doubt it because my mouth always has this awful taste in it. I've been brushing 3-4 x a day, but is there anything else? Thanks!    — Krista L. S. (posted on August 23, 2001)

Drink lots of water with lemon in it. Get those sugar-free breath mints.

happened to me too... I just kept Extra Sugar Free gum around and chewed it practically all the time. All I can say is that it does get better...

I had the same thing happen at the same time and I got a tongue scrapper because it seemed I had a build up of white junk on the top of my tongue...the scrapper seemed to help but it was pretty bad for a while. I think it is the anitbiotics leaving your body.

I agree with the previous poster, Sugar free breathsavers are a lifesaver. <p> The smell is actually the fat burning off your body. I have also found that brushing brushing and brushing your tongue helps alot too.
