Well I never did eat pureed foods, as "who wants to eat liquid
meat"? So I got some jerky at Wal-Mart and chewed the living bleep out
of it so it was powder when I swallowed it. Then I only had one very tiny
sliver of it besides. Then waited awhile. The reason I waited is because
jerky can "swell up" and I did'nt want to hurt the pouch.
Then I would have another tiny piece and so on. I was only around 1.5 weeks
post op... not even two weeks out. Actually, it might have been about 7
days post op (when I came off the liquid diet). I needed protein and never
found a protein drink until week six. Anyway beef jerky has ALWAYS been my
favorite snack, above candy or anything. If I had it at one week post op, I
sure don't see how it would hurt you four months post op. BUT DO BE
EXTREMELY CAREFUL.
We are all different in what we can tolerate. And it will swell up some in
your pouch as it hydrates. Don't go crazy with it until you know. Have
extremly tiny slivers and wait at least 5 or 10 minutes between them. If
you have trouble
(I doubt you will) it would be better to have trouble with one bite. ;)

I started eating jerkey at 4 weeks, and at 22 months postop Open DS, still
love it for an afternoon snack. I like the pepper flavor. It's a great
source of protein and only has 1% fat. All doctor's orders are differnet,
so check with your surgeon and nutritionist to make sure it's ok..

This is so great! I love beef jerky but given my problems keeping anything
down until recently (WLS 5-10-01) I haven't even given it a second thought.
I will now. That's protein I will enjoy!
