I don't know about your specific insurance/doctors, but most out-of-network plans have a maxiumum out-of-pocket that you pay, including your deductible. For example, my max. out-of-network is $1500 - after my expenses reach that point, my insurer picks up 100% of the rest. Your plan probably has a similar feature. Check with your insurer and ask what you maximum out-of-pocket is. $1000 to $3000 is typical.

Hi Raulene, I have Pacificare also and I live in Cordelia. Dr Ostroff and Patti are the doctors I was referred to through Pacificare. I was referred to them after my PCP sent the request for a referral for gastric bypass surgery. My medical group is Hill Physicians, maybe each med group uses different docs, not sure.
