Question:
I would like to hear from women who are 6'0 feet and over.
I am 6'0 feet tall, and currently weigh three-hundred and ten pounds. I would like to know women who are of a similiar height and weight, whether or not you were happy with your weight loss. I would also like to see pictures, if anyone has a website out there. Thank you for taking the time out to respond to my question. — [Anonymous] (posted on July 27, 2001)

Sorry, I don't have your answer, I have the same question. I'm 6'1 310 and
I'd like to know how taller women's weight loss is. I did go to a meeting
from a WLS Doctor and he mentioned one of his patients was 5'10 so he made
the "opening" a little bigger.....but thats all i know: ) Good
luck, also please feel free to email me: )

Well, since you haven't gotten any over 6 footers yet, I'll tell you that
I'm 5'11" and started at 340lbs when I had my OpenVBG on 6/11/01. This
morning I am 289lbs. Down by 51 pounds in 6 weeks! I obviously have a ways
to go, but most of my VBGer pals have reached goal, and most well over 100,
some 200 lbs within a year to 18 months....so, it won't be long for me!

I am not quite 6 ft, but I am 5'10" ( pretty close)and weighted
340lbs. I had open RNY on Feb. 13, 2001. I am 5 and a half months post
op, and I have lost 115lbs!!!! I am very happy with my weight loss, and
how fast it is coming off. I'm only 55lbs from my goal weight! I have not
posted recent pics yet, but I will be soon. Good Luck, and my god bless.

Gee, I suddenly feel petite -- after a lifetime of being a 5'11"
Amazon! Actually I now like to think of myself as statuesque! I am 21+
months postop from lap BPD/DS -- started at 360/51BMI and am currently
186/26BMI. Clothes are currently large top, 14 pants. This may sound
large to those size 6 shorties out there, but I honestly am told that I
look great at this size, my BMI is healthy and the number is only a number
as we formerly MO people are left with very dense, heavy bones. The window
for the DS is closer to 2 yrs and I did lose another 1 1/2 lbs. last week
and expect to lose a few more lbs. when I finish my lower body lift in the
fall. But I am essentially finished and happy -- hell, I'm thrilled. I
was not quite so thrilled with all my hanging skin, but have had extensive
reconstructive surgery during the last 6-7 months (arms, breast lift,
implants, TT, necklift & eyes and thigh lift) and the results are
amazing. I now walk into a room with my stomach flat, my breasts perky --
in high heels, knowing that I am the most visible woman in the room -- not
because I'm the fattest, but because (I'm told) I'm stunning. At
5'11", you're always noticed, and it's wonderful to get constant
attention and reinforcement. Whatever your body type is -- petite,
average, muscular, tall, etc. -- you do better emotionally if you accept it
and make it work for you. I have other DS friends who are enjoying being
"little" or training for triathalons. I am finally accepting the
advantage of height and grateful every day that I can carry clothes and
walk into a room knowing all eyes are on me. There is a reason why all
models are our height -- so take your advantage and work it! I have before
and after pics on the patient page at www.duodenalswitch.com if you want to
see the tranformation.

I am also 6' tall and started out at almost the same weight as you. I had
you by 4 pounds at 314. It has been a year since my open RNY and I now
weigh 205. My loss has been slower than some that I see here and also
slower than my husband. He is 5'6 and started at 310 and is now 167 but
wears a size Medium shirt and a size 34" pants. No one believes that
he weighs what he does. They always guess him at about 135. At went from
a tight 26/28 or 30/32 (when I could find them) to a 16 bottoms and a size
Medium or Large top. Even my feet got smaller. I was wearing an 11 Wide
and now wear a 9 1/2. I still have about 35-40 pounds to go to get to my
goal. People tell me all the time that I look thin, and I have to wonder
what kind of drugs they are on. I know about the "apron" that is
under my clothes that I will have removed when I reach my ideal weight.

I'm 6'1. When I had my surgery on March 13, 2001, I weighed 388 pounds.
As of today, September 17, 2001, I'm now 263. That's 125 pounds in 6
months. I've VERY happy with my weight loss. I started in a 30/32 and I'm
now an 18/20. Everyone tells me I look great. I have about 75 pounds more
to go to get to my goal of 188 pounds. I'm HOPING to get into a size
14...but a size 12 would be WONDERFUL!!! :) I have pictures on my
site...www.picturetrail.com/mskandice. The last picture was taken when I
had lost 100 pounds. I will update it again soon.
