Question:
I am 7 mos post op, open rny, and my burping is getting worse. Everything I eat,
or drink seems to make me burp for about 2 minutes! It is getting a little embarrassing. Does this mean I am stretching my pouch? — Marilyn C. (posted on June 30, 2001)

I also would like to know the answer, if there is one. I am 6 months post
op and the burping seems to be the same but no signs of letting up anytime
soon.

Open rny 3/19/01 & I'm having the same problem. Maybe were eating to
fast. I don't drink & eat at the same time, so that can't be it.

I burped a lot the first few months but I am a year post op
and I don't burp quite as often. For a while I passed gas
real bad and brother does it stink. My family would have to
leave the room or roll the windows down in the car. ;) I
told my spouse payback is... well you know. I do not pass
gas as much anymore but it still smells pretty bad sometimes.

Im post-op just 6 days, and I also have been burping. I have figured it
out, though, its because I am eating too much. When Im full, I burp, and
thats when I know I need to stop. Its kind of a built in wanring light for
me LOL If I would eat one more bite, Im sure Id be hating it. Ive never
been one to stop when I was full, I always pushed the linmits, so, Im glad
its this obvious for me. It might be different for you, but, pay attention
to the signs... they are there.

My doctor told me that your stomach is smaller now and it can't hold all
the air that your old stomach did. You don't realize how much air you
swallow when you eat.
