I too have this exact pain, athough for me, it lessens when I lie down and
is much worse when I'm up and about. I would, of course, call your surgeon
regardless...when I went to see him at 11 days post op, he could find
nothing to account for the pain other than stomach muscles healing. I had
no fever, no trouble eating, everything was "passing" as it
should...i had no redness at the incision and no sign of hernia...so...the
surgeon felt it was just an unusual sensitivity in the muscles as they
heal. I have been getting a little better each day. Good luck!

I had a strange pain after surgery, and when I mentioned it at my surgeon's
support group meeting, found that others had felt the same thing. I
imagined that mine could have been caused by an open staple poking into
me...that's how sharp it felt. Several others said that's what they thought
they were feeling. The surgeon said, no, however. He said that what he
thought we may be feeling could be a severed nerve. Evidently, severed
nerves continue to "fire" (looking for their other half or
something) and it feels like a sharp little pain. It was kind of strange
but it went away within two weeks. Nothing to worry about.
