Does anyone have any idea how DR' dedcide how long

to leave the common loop? I found out today that the reason my insurance is denying approval for my DS is because my surgeon is leaving the common loop over 100 cm's. He is out of town for a week so I have to wait a while for him to get back to me .    — kathleen S. (posted on June 22, 2001)

I asked my Dr. how long my common channel was. He told me he does 100cm for all his patients. He personally feels anything under 100 is risky. He also told me that he would do over 100 if I was an NFL linebacker weighing over 450 lbs. I had an open BPD/DS on 4/11. Best of luck
