Question:
How do you know when the pouch is stretched?
I do not have a transected pouch/stomach either and wonder how do you know when the pouch has been stretched? Does it mean when you feel full but keep on eating? Should food be measured continuously and never eat over 1/2 cup? If you do eat and feel very full have you overstretched your pouch? And lastly, if the pouch is stretched a few times (you feel very full) will it go back to original size? I have always heard that the stomach "shrinks" with normal wt loss, does this occur with the pouch too? Or does it always stay stretched once it is stretched? — Marilyn C. (posted on March 28, 2001)

My surgeon told me the only way I could stretch my pouch was if I overate
to the point of throwing up- and I would have to do this consistently!!! He
said snacking does not stretch the pouch it just slows down the weight
loss.

My surgeon had told me that I would know if I stretched my pouch out
because I'd be laying on the floor screaming in pain! I believe it
stretches to a degree over time but not majorly enough to gain all the
weight back.
