Question:
What can I do about excessive gas?
I just had a revision done to my VGB. Since coming home from the hospital I have had excessive gas. What can I do about that? My pouch was not touched, just my intestines. — Kay P. (posted on March 21, 2001)

Kay,
You have had your plumbing rerouted. It has to find the way out. Try lying
on your left side with a hot water bottle on your tummy. This may help.
Also, I am not sure which diet you are following but beware of lactose!!!

Gas-X or Phazyme (spelling???) can help control excess gas ... kind of
expensive, but worth it!

Milk (which is sugar) and sugar and hidden sugars (like in applesauce,
yogurt, real juices, fruits & other "health foods) can ferment in
your new "arrangement". For some, excessive fats cause gas
because we don't absorb them and they can rush on through. But I'd look
first to milk & sugar products.

Anytime I have surgery I take homeopathic tablets for gas. The OTC meds
didn't help at all. I have my little bottle of white tabs ready for my
surgery. But please check with your physician before taking.
