Question:
Has anyone found a great tasting high protein/low carb-sugar bar?
PROTEIN BARS...I am posting this here to make sure eveyone reads it. I am looking for a high protein/low carbs-sugar bar. I'm having problems getting in my protein and have got to do something. I'm about 5 weeks Post-op. — TJSmith (posted on March 20, 2001)

The best brand that I have found is Carb Solutions. It is great!! They have
several kinds. My favorites are creamy peanut butter and chocolate and
peanut butter and grape jelly. They are really moist and easy to get down.

Carb Solutions---I've tried the chocolate/peanut butter and the peanut
butter/jelly and both are real good. They have about 2 grams of carbs
each.

I like the Atkins Diet bars, the brownie almond is my favorite it has 19
grms protien no sugar, it's pretty good, I eat it slowly with small bites.
They also have a breakfast bar with about 11 grms protien, I love the
blueberry pancake bar. I keep one in my purse incase I get somewhere and
need to eat something.

My favorites are MET-RX Protein Plus. They have 34 grams of protein each.
My two favorites flavors are chocolate fudge and bavarian mint. I put them
in the refrigerator at work and have one everyday for breakfast.

Hi, TJ! :) How are you doing? This is Teresa! I think the Atkins is
pretty good, too (the Almond Brownie has a brownie-like inside) and the
chocolate macademia nut is even better, IMHO! I refrigerate them - they
seem to taste better to me. I think those two bars have something like
18-20 gms protein and are low in sugar/fat.
Another one that is FABU is the Blueberry Cheesecake bar by Pure Protein.
The inside has the consistency of cheesecake. It doesn't have an
overwhelming flavor of blueberries, either. I found both of these at GNC.
I prefer shakes more nowadays to the bars, but I did eat the bars quite a
bit in my first four weeks post-op. I always try to keep one in my purse
if I ever need an emergency pick-me-up while out! All the best,

I went to Wal-Mart and bought one of every high protein/low carb bar, took
them home and had a bite of each. The only ones that passed the taste test
for me were: #1 - AdvantEDGE (by EAS), chocolate Fudge; and #2 - Dr.
Atkins, peanut butter and chocolate. Also, the protein drinks are awful
except for Herbalife's sugar-free protein drink (in vanilla and chocolate).
Good luck!

Hi - I just want to let everyone know that I have found the BEST protein
bar EVER! Well, at least it is to me ;)
Right after surgery (01/15/01), I tried every protein drink on the market,
and finally found Designer Protein (http://www.designerwhey.com/). Well,
Designer Protein now makes Designer Whey Gourmet Protein Bars, and they are
HEAVEN!!!
So far, I have tried the Lemon CRUNCHes (lemony tart, and has little
"rice krispies" crunchies in it - YUM), and Chocolate TRIplemint
(chewy, chocolatey, and minty - totally YUM). They also come in Peanut
Better Body, ChocoLATs, Chocolate esPRESSo, Chocolate MaltedMUSCLES, and
ABS-Berry.
Each 75 gram bar is loaded with 30g of protein, 6g of usable carbs, and
just 5g of fat (that number varies depending on the flavor).
I was able to purchase them at my local Vitamin Shoppe store, but you can
also get them through various websites like AffordableSupplements.com
(http://www.affordablesupplements.com/designer_protein_bars.asp), and A box
of 12 runs $35.89 (suggested retail), but I've found them as low as $25.95.

Well, I have tried so many bars but the one that I like the best, as well
as my husband and son are the Pure Protein bars. They can be purchased in
GNC and they come in flavors like strawberry cheesecake, blueberry
cheesecake, s'more, choc. chip and the best thing is they are very low in
sugar (most of them are 6g) low in carbs 7grams and the bar is 270 calories
and weighs 2.75ozs and is very dense and they all taste great. They are
made by Worldwide sports nutrition and their website is
www.sportsnutrition.com.
Try them and I am sure you will love them. Good luck!

I just finished eating a Protein Revolition Creamy Chololate Peanut Buter
Cup protein bar. It's my favorite. Not quite like a candy bar, but not bad
either. Some of them taste like cardboard covered with fake chocolate. I
get these at GNC. The Carb Solutions bars mentioned previously are also
very good.
