Question:
Feeling real fatigued and tired after eating.

I had previously posted about feeling real tired after eating. I do drink ensure sometimes however it is without sugar called Glucerno for diabetics. But this happens even if I eat baked fish, or foods without protein. Someone told me it could be because when you stomach feels full you get tired and maybe the process of digestion is causing you to feel tired because it is overworking trying to digest. So what do I do. I don't eat fast and I certainly don't eat alot. Please help. This is miserable.    — gcs8v (posted on February 7, 2001)

I feel very tired after eating too. I am 4 weeks post-op and I am returning to work in 3 days. I am a little worried that after eating at work I am going to need to rest but that won't be possible at work. If anyone has any suggestions I would also appreciate it. By the way I stay away from carbs, so this fatigue is usually after a meal that is just protein.

I went back to work at 3 weeks after my lap DS and found the tiredness the hardest at first. I took a nap in my car a lunchtime and could barely wait to get home after work so I could go right to bed. I still slept 12 hours a night for a few more weeks. It takes a few weeks to get the effects of anesthesia and major surgery to leave your body and the added work to the body can make you very sleepy. Try to accomodate your recovery needs, but hang in, it will pass and when the weight starts to pour off, you will have more energy than you know what to do with.
