Question:
Meds & Apnea. I was given the very potent pain med called oxycodone hydrochride or OXYFAST

and it helps the pain post op a lot. I am alightly afraid of it because of my sleep apnea but have taken it and slept most of the night with the cpap. I really hate the cpap and most of the time end up with it hanging on the headboard in the morning. I am only taking 1/2 of the prescribed dosage or .10 ml every 4- 6 hrs. This is 10 droplets from the eye dropper! My fear is causing me to just "take the pain" most of the time and not take the meds at all. Any advice on this? My cpap setting is 12 and I didn't use at all at the hospital since I was well monitored all the time. The post op pain is comparable to being kicked in the stomach 100 times or doing 1,000 situps. I do not wear a binder and can sleep on my sides already. I am getting up and down by myself and hope I am not pulling anything!!!! Thanks Should I be doing less turning/twisting in the bed?    — Marilyn C. (posted on December 4, 2000)
