Has anybody had the bpd/ds surgery and used military tricare ins?

Hi Pat... Yes. Tricare does approve the DS. If you join up on the <a
href="http://www.egroups.com/group/duodenalswitch">DS Mailing
List</a> and ask your question there, I'm sure you'll get some
responses. This is a high volume list with over 700 members. You may want
to use the "digest" option to avoid getting hundreds of emails

Yes! I am using Tricare Prime(TCP) to have my surgery. I know of several
people who have TCP and been approved and had surgery within the last year
or are having surgery very soon. TCP approves very quickly too.
Call your TCP rep and ask for their list of approved surgeons, then you can
get your primary care physician to write the referral for WLS. TCP
approves the iniital consult, the surgeon gets some history of weight
loss/gain to draft a letter requesting the surgery be approved.
I could go on about the process, but these are the basics.
Where are you you in NC? Some military hospitals even do the surgery.
