Question:
Would anyone be interested in a DS Chat Room?

I have visited the DS Chat Room on the DS.com site and have found that there is never anyone there or there are very few. I would really like to see an active DS chat room happening. No, I am not trying to exclude RNYers, but I find so few DSers to chat with on this site. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to get a more active DS chat going? I think that would be a great idea. I know that when I am in the chat room and ask any questions about the DS procedure, that very few or no one knows much about it since the majority of members are rny patients. I hope it happens. Mary

Most of our chat goes on in the mailing list. However, there is a schedule posted on the DS site. www.duodenalswitch.com If you would like to join the mailing list, which is super and super-active... You will get DS answers from several folks who are pre-op and post-op.

. . .just an observation (I didn't have the DS) - maybe the current site needs to be better publicized? If the only problem you find with the current DS chat room is that not many people use it - why would adding another one be different? Maybe list the URL here and on ever BP/DS site and message board you know of and see if that increases activity. Ask your doc/support group to publicize the chat room - add it to their newsletter, patient handouts or in their reception areas. Hope this helps - I know how frustrating it must be (I can't access ANY chat rooms with WebTV)!

I'd love to have a DS chat room here at obesityhelp.com. I'm not much for chat rooms though and I've been spending most of my time at egroups on the duodenalswitch list. Please let me know if we finally accomplish this for this site. I'd probably give it a try. Having decided to have the DS because it is the best surgery in my humble opinion I would like to talk with those that know about it.
