Question:
Has anyone ever been approved by this company ???
I am 32 BMI 40 and I desperately need wls. Central States says wls is NOT covered no matter what. Does anyone have a success story (or a give it up story) for me? Thanks [email protected] — Ronda L. (posted on March 20, 2000)

Dear Ronda,
Ive been away for a couple days, but after seeing your post, and noticing
no replies I thought id give it a try *Smiles* Im not sure of how much help
I can be too you, but I Do have a few suggestions that might help you. I
Also am fighting my insurance company that has a exclusion clause. And here
are some things Ive done. I Posted a address to the company here so that
maybe people would take the time to write to a insurance company and
explain some about WLS and about how wrong it is, and costly it is, to have
those exclusion clause.Ive also found all my public officials, congressman,
senators etc, and wrote letters Telling them I EXPECTED help from them. I
Also contacted Walter(the attorney) And have him kinda on hold at the time
to see If I Can get my insurance company to budge. Ive Researched WLS, and
the cost, and the Health Effects any information I could Find, and made
copies. I Contacted my Dept of Insurance and filed a complaint. I Got my
PCP and OBGYN and the Employeers my husband works for that we get our
insurance to write a letter for me. You have to arm yourself with as much
information you can get your hands on, become a expert on WLS and
Insurance, and then you have to take the time to fight, and ask people for
help to fight. Im still in the process of fighting myself, but if there is
any thing I can help ya with, please feel free to contact me. You dont have
to do this alone :o)....

DEAR RHONDA, I ALSO HAVE CENTRAL STATES SOUTH EAST AND SOUTH WEST. I FIRST
HAD MY MOM CALL THE COMPANY AND TO FIND OUT IF THEY COVER THE SURGERY. THE
LADY SHE TALKED TO SAID IT DEPENDS. THEN I CALLED MYSELF AND ASKED AND THE
LADY RUDELY TOLD ME NO. I ASKED EVEN IF IT'S NECESSARY. SHE STILL SAID NO.
SO NOW I'M STILL GOING TO MEET WITH THE SURGEON AND MAYBE HE CAN GET THEM
TO APPROVE ME. I CAN TELL YOU I WON'T GIVE UP AND YOU SHOULDN'T EITHER. IF
YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR HELPFUL INFORMATION FOR ME YOU CAN E-MAIL ME AT
[email protected]. MAYBE WE CAN GET THROUGH THIS TOGETHER.

We also have the same insurance. My husband works for UPS. The problem is
they are self insured. And so are NOT governed by the insurance
commission. Only the Dept of Labor governs them. But they inforned me
today they are governed by NOONE. Very snotty. We are in the process of
appeal also-- but I was informed that a couple of people DID get covered.
Now if we can just figure out how. I will post again if I get lucky. Good
Luck to all.
