Question:
Anyone only have Medicare and had plastic surgery covered?

I only have medicare disability and since they do not pre-approve anything I would like to hear from those who had their plastic surgeries especially lower body lift or any plastic surgeries covered due to infections and lower back pain, etc. Thank you.    — Irislady (posted on June 14, 2005)

I also have Medicare disability and it covered my tummy tuck with muscle tightning. Medicare covered 80%. I was told by my doctor that it is covered if you have lost over 100 lbs. I also have Blue Cross which covered my 20% co-pay.

At the time of my plastic surgery I only had medicare from being on disability, The Dr. told me we do it and then fight to get the coverage if denied. Medicare paid for my tummy tuck and later for my thigh reduction,no problems. My Dr. took excellent before photographs and after because before my tummy tuck you did not see my thighs. skin hung down to my knees, after the flat stomach the inside of my thighs hung half way down to my knees. I am sure he sent all critical information including the fact that I had once weighed 563 lbs. That this alone had streched my skin.
