YES YOU CAN GET PREGNANT AFTER WLS .. I GOT PREGNANT 10 MONTHS AFTER.. THEY
DO NOT LIKE YOU TO GET PREGNANT UNTIL AT LEAST 1 TO 2 YEARS AFTER SURGERY.
I WAS FINE AND THE BABY WAS FINE, BUT THE BABY TOOK ALOT FROM ME AND I KEPT
LOSING WEIGHT . THE BABY WEIGHED 7'2. WHEN I GOT PREGNANT I WEIGHED IN AT
140 AND WHEN I CAME HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL I WEIGHED 125. WHICH WAS WAS TOO
SKINNY FOR ME AT THE TIME.. SO ITS VERY HARD ON YOUR BODY IF YOU GET
PREGNANT TOO EARLY. IF YOU HAVE ANYMORE QUESTION I AM MORE THAN HAPPY TO
HELP.

Yes Tina, you can get pregnant after WLS I have been told. You have to
wait a couple of years, but a woman in my area had asked that samed
question.

Absolutely!! I have a beautiful 4 month old baby girl to prove it. Check
out my profile for the picture! I got pregnant 10 months out, I gained 32
pounds with the pregnancy, and have lost it all plus another 15 since the
babies birth. I had the most amazing delivery the midwife had ever seen. I
went to the hospital because I kep hearing water swishing around in my
belly, and found out while I was there that I was dilated to 5 cm, and in
hard labor. I felt nothing. I went on for another 5 hours of feeling
nothing, and then finally felt like I needed to have a BM, and my husband
looked down, and the babies head was out!!!!!!!!!!! I never felt a thing.
The midwife said that she had never seen anything like it in her life. I
guess all that walking that I was able to do REALLY helped.

Of course. A woman in my church got pregnent three months out, she was
monitored very carefully. The baby is fine, she is fine. She has since had
two more children. She looks fabulous!!!!

Yes, it is possible. Actually, is is more likely that one would get
pregnant AFTER WLS than before. The weight loss tends to render one more
fertile, therfore we must be more careful right after surgery. It is
suggested that we wait 18 months to two years after to become pregnant.
Good luck if you are trying!

Yep, I'm working on #2 as a post-op right now. Every doc is different, but
mine only required us to wait one year. We were pregnant by my 13th month
post-op and our baby girl is 10 months old now. She weighed 8 lb, 4 oz, and
I gained about 40 lbs. with the pregnancy (I had horrible swelling the last
month or so) but it was gone by 2 weeks after the baby was born. Found out
in Feb that I'm pregnant with #2.

Judging by the way this one is kicking me this morning, absolutlely! :)
The main issue with post-op pregnancy is that it is advised to wait
12-18months afterward, at least, to be sure it will be easier for you to
nourish the baby. Many have gotten pregnant much sooner, though, and done
fine. Please visit this site's Post-Op Pregnancy forum (under
"communities" up above) and feel free to ask me anything you'd
like.

I'm 21 weeks along now. I was told to wait 2 years, because they don't
want you losing weight while pregnant. I agree with the above post. It's
very tiring, and I'm not gaining weight. My doctor said that she wasn't
worried about me gaining weight until after the 20th week. I see her
tomorrow, so I'll see if she says anything about it.

I'm sorry, make that the last post, katrina's, that I am agreeing with. I
thought my post was going to be at the bottom. My fault.

Thank you everyone! I spent all of 2004 working with a fertility clinic to
determine if I could even get pregnant and in Dec, the doctor told me that
everything works fine... but he won't do the insemination because of my
weight. If that's not motivation - nothing is.
