Question:
Did you have an appetite or each much after PS?
I am going in for a hernia repair and pannilectomy removal on Jan 18, 2005. Wondered if I would lose much weight or have an appetite when I got home from the hospital. Hoping to remove 10 lbs of skin at least and lose another 5-10 lbs from not being hungry when I get home. Please let me know what happened to you. Thanks.... = ) — Suzann G. I definitely wasn't very hungry at first but you do need to make sure you
get in your protein for healing. However, the appetite does return. It
will be up to you as to whether you end up gaining or losing after PS. I
lost more after the LBL and then went in PS #2 up about 2 lbs and went into
#3 at the same weight but have since gained a few lbs. Of course the
holidays has not helped. I found myself grazing a lot more because I was
home and the food was available. So now I'm trying to get back to the
weight I should be and make sure at least all of the skin I had removed is
reflected in the number, which would be about 192. Surgery #2 & 3 he
did not weigh what he removed as it was a small amount in comparison to the
19 lbs he removed with the LBL. I figure it was around 5-7 lbs total. A
lot less came off my legs than I assumed. For some reason after I had the
LBL I wnet nuts with carbs. Prior to that I did quite well and even went
into surgery losing 10 lbs the 2 weeks before surgery. But I came out of
the LBL below goal (or would be after all the swelling would go down) and
felt I had to try to stop the weight loss train quickly. I was a little
too successful at it, is all I can say. So beware and don't let the carb
monster get you.

I wasn't very hungry after my tt. I lost 5 pounds of skin and then took
off another 5 pounds in about a month from not being hungry. However, on
my other plastic surgeries that didn't happen. I don't know why. Maybe it
was because I was already at my goal weight when I had those procedures.

Hi,, I just had a triple hernia repair with an abdominal plasty done on
Sept 23, 04. I was in the hospital for 10 days. I wasnt allowed to eat, I
could only drink water until I passed gas,, which I finally did on day 5.
Then for the next week or so when I would get food I would take a bite and
that would be it,, I just didnt have an appetite. Within the first 3 weeks
of surgery I lost 23 pounds, they removed 8 pounds from me during surgery.
I am still maintaining that weight after 3 months. Im working now on
trying to loose more. Good luck with your upcoming surgery

initially I was not very hungry. I went from 134 (9/11/2004 LBL day) to 125
(2weeks later, post LBL, didn't weigh in w/ the drains in) ) with the LBL
etc. My appetite was poor& I was not drinking enough and might have
been a little dehydrated while I was on pain meds. 5 weeks post LBL I got
an Illeus and was unable to eat solid food for about a week. went down to
120. I felt that was tooo thin and I was somewhat dehydrated. as soon as I
started eating again I was 125 in a few days. I am 130 now. I started a
weight lifting program to tone and tighten the rest of my body and gained
some weight, hopefully muscle, but feel smaller so I am ok with this.
