Question:
Does anyone have the feeling of not feeling full after eating? What could it be?

I eat normal meals and for some reason, I dont feel fool. Should I look into a revision or possible expansion of my stoma? Anyone had this problem? After 1 year post Op, I lost over 100 pounds an stayed at that loss. I am still 50 pounds from my goal weight.    — Jaime G. (posted on November 21, 2004)

HI JAMIE, I EXPERIENCE A SIMILAR FEELING OF NOT BEING FULL AFTER I EAT. SOMETIMES I CONFUSE FEELING FULL WITH FEELING STUFFED. I DID THE COTTAGE CHEESE TEST TO SEE HOW BIG MY POUCH REALLY IS, AND I AM OK. I HAVE TO NOT DRINK WHEN I EAT...THIS IS A TOUGH ONE.ALSO MY HUBBY WILL MAKE ME A VERY THICK PROTEIN SHAKE USING FROZEN BERRIES INSTEAD OF MILK, IT IS THINK LIKE ICE CREAM. AFTER THIS I FEEL STUFFED. GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS, LORIANN http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ChristianWLSJourney/

If you had the RNY - the 'feeling' of not being full - IF followed with not having food restriction, is a sign of 'stoma malfuction'. Do you have to 'stop' eating? that your pouch does not let you know your full ? An upper GI can show if this is the problem. If it is, it would be a 'repair' not a revision to your surgery; IF you can find a surgeon who will fix it... most will not.

You know what I've heard? A year out it's 80% us and 20% surgery. Not everyone feels as restricted in their eating as they did at first. We really have to develope good habits in the first year and those habits are what keep us losing or maintaning. I joked at my support group that I faid the cottage cheese test! I can eat a lot more now. I have to be very careful and aware. I track everything on Fitday and I keep active. I have no doubt that I could begin to regain weight and I don't believe the surgery has failed me. I believe the surgery is the best jump start I've ever had in my life to lose an incredible amount of weight, but now I have to be very creful to stay where I am, and to lose the rest of my weight I have to work even harder. I don't mean this to be a downer, and maybe there is a mechanical reason for your situation, but it seems to me that would have been an issue early on. Good luck to you, Jo

I go through the same thing and I've just learned to drop the fork and back away! Dont drink while you're eating either, then you can take in much more than what you need too. Stay away from refined sugar and pop, get your water and vitamins in and exercise. I still have about 60lbs to go and its going to take a while but I'll do it and so will you ...best wishes...ps I've noticed too some days I can eat tons other days I really could care less....I think it depend too on the consistency of the food

I am so glad you asked that question. I am RNY(2-17-03)and its the same for me(not feeling full after eating). I have lost 195lbs(I weigh 115) I just exercise Monday-Friday and watch what I eat very close and make sure I get my PROTEIN, WATER & VITAMINS. I cheat a little on the weekends like I may have an extra snack or meal. Oh and I love sugarfree fudge pops so I only allow myself to eat them on Saturday because I could go out of control.......lots of luck Andi K
