Question:
What do Breast Implants
Ok, this is an odd question. I'm about a year out and looking into plastic surgery. Things don't look too bad for me, but it would be nice if I had something done to improve my breasts. I'm considering implants, but wonder - what do they "feel" like? I can't imagine what it would be like? For Saline or Sillicon (which I assume they don't do anymore), are they uncomfortable to lie on (as in sleep on your front side)? Do they feel "hard" inside? Can you tell there is something inside of your breast other than breast tissue? The visual I get is you know when you have frozen stew or something in a ziploc bag and it half defrosts - the outside is soft, but then there's a hard lump inside. Is it like that? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I know that it's a bizzare question, but I don't know who to ask, and you all are always so wonderful with advice and insight. Plus, we're always asking *ehem* embarassing questions here ;-) What would I do without you! — w8free (posted on September 28, 2004)

I will tell you that I am 2 1/2 months out from breast augmentation with
silicone implants under the muscle. I had the same thoughts as you,
therefore I opted for silicone because I qualified as a breast
reconstruction due to the surgeon also doing the lift and removing tissue.
I will tell you that I am THRILLED with the feel of my breasts. I cannot
feel the implant and they feel firm (like when I was 15), yet soft and VERY
natural. They are also very perky and just beautiful. I still can't
sleep on my stomach due to all of the other surgery I had, tummy tuck
mainly, it just makes it uncomfortable so I can't answer that question for
you. Please e-mail me if you have any questions! Good luck!

It would be great if you could find a patient with implants and see (and
feel!) for yourself. The doctor should also be able to show you a silicone
and a saline implant to see what is best for you.
