Al did use Dr. Kurian as did I. She and Dr. Roslin usually do as distal
surgery as is possible, although I can't say for sure about Al's.

His web site says that he had lap RNY but does not say if it is proximal or
distal. Cruise his site and see what else you can find www.alroker.com he
also has merchandise you can buy, as in books. Christine

Al had a proximal RNY (lap) and in most cases the laprocopic procedures are
done proximal. It is very difficult surgically to do a distal RNY when
done laproscopically.

As I already posted, my surgery was done by the same surgeon as Al. They
do almost all of their surgeries lap, and almost all of them as distal as
possible. I asked specifically about whether I was done proximal or distal
several times, and was told distal, was also told that as time goes on, the
practice does them more even more distal. Al was done within a year of mine
so I would still guess distal for him.
