Question:
Strange question for post ops.
hi. I have a strange question for post ops. I was wondering if after surgery and weight loss will my feet change? I have very wide feet and having them become more "normal" would be a wonderful perk of this surgery. Let me clarify, I am having this surgery for medical reasons, but this would be an added bonus! If your feet have changed, can you please tell me how. Thanks! — septembergirl73 (posted on August 20, 2004)

I can assure you that your feet will change sizes. I have a terrible time
finding shoes that fit correctly. In some shoes I wear a medium width and
in some I have actually had to buy narrows. It was much easier to buy shoes
when my foot was wide!

I went from a size 10 to a 7 /12 - your feet dont change in the sense of
length BUT because the FAT is gone your allowed to wear a smaller size..
In fact, you'll fine your earing, necklaces, brackletts, watches and rings
will ALL be smaller.

My feet totally shrank! I went from 9 1/2 EEEE to a 7 med. In 18 months
and a loss of 198#. Needless to say, I had to go & buy all new shoes!
Thank goodness for the Payless BOGO sales!

I am still a size 10 most of the time. Most of my pre-op shoes are too
stretched out for me to wear now, though.

I have lost 130 lbs. and my EEE wide shoes are now a mile to wide on me!
Very soon some new ones will be the order of the day.

Mine were always OK width-wise, but got a size smaller.

Yes! I use to have to buy wide shoes, now I can buy anything off the
shelf..except that even at goal, my calves are still too big for those cool
boots I'd like to wear! I take a smaller size now too.

I've lost about 235 lbs. and was wearing a size 13 shoe. I didn't know what
to expect, but I really hoped I'd go down to a 12 because they're more
plentiful in the stores. All my shoes I had pre-op are stretched out -
especially the loafers. Even my favorite Dr. Marten's oxfords can't lace up
tight enough anymore. There doesn't appear to be an ounce of fat on my feet
now, but alas they're still longfellers. My wife, on the otherhand, is down
about 85 lbs. so far and has gone from a 7-7.5 to 6-6.5's.

Prior to surgery, I worse an 11 wide. Now I still wear the 11 and can
sometimes wear a 10, I always get the medium width.

At 265 I wore size 10.5w sometimes an 11. Somewhere around 170 I had to
buy all new shoes. I now wear 9.5-10 and most of them are too wide.

I can only speak for myself here, but I used to have a hard time finding
shoes that fit because I had to buy an 11W. I have a couple pair of sandals
that I bought around the time when I had my surgery. They are falling off
of my feet. So I just went to Kmart when they had buy one, get one half off
on all of their clearance shoes and I found two pair of Joe Boxer sandals
in a regular size 10. Of course it helps that I only paid a few bucks for
them. I can't believe it, since I am only 3 months out. I guess when you
lose 85 pounds, you lose some all over. I am so happy to be in normal
women's sized shoes since I can now buy them anywhere. I can't wait to get
into the normal women sized clothes now. Best wishes for happy and healthy
days ahead and for fun filled shoe shopping experiences.

Me too. I always had to buy very wide shoes and had a hard time finding
them, too. That was even BEFORE my massive edema kicked in the last few
years before surgery. It only took a couple of weeks for my feet to start
going down. I had to shop for shoes almost as often as I had to replace my
underwear and bras as I was losing weight. My older shoes were so stretched
out of shape, I couldn't even lace them tight enough to keep from giving me
blisters! I'm not complaining, mind you!!! Now 215 pounds later, my feet
are perfectly normal.

Before WSL I wore a 12EEE. It was very difficult to find shoes to fit.
After losing 140lbs I wear a size 12 wide pumps or boots even with heels.
I found I could buy sandals in size 11 this summer. My feet dont hurt like
they used too. I used to always blame it on the shoes I bought...it was
definetly the extra weight.

I had lost 80 lbs a few years back and went from 9 to a 7.5. I love my feet
when I'm thin. They are cute. I have even had compliments from many people
about how sexy my feet are. I can't wait. Good luck
