Question:
I'm 10 months post-op and need help with meal planning.
I have been struggling with diet. I am hungry 24/7. I'm thinking about trying 6 small meals to curve the snacking and hunger. Has this helped anyone... and if it has can you tell me what your eating? — amw1313 (posted on April 23, 2004)

Can we say head hunger?! I'm 11 mos next week and know exactly what you're
talking about. As soon as I'm slightly bored, my poor old brain turns to
food. I'm not necessarily hungry, I just need to shove something in my
mouth. OK. Today. Right now I'm enjoying my morning coffee. Breakfast today
is a granola bar. For mid morning I've got a yogurt smoothie. Lunch is a
green salad with salmon & fat free salad dressing & a few pieces of
dried pineapple. Mid afternoon snack is a protein bar, dinner filet mignon
(A splurge!), after dinner ???? I always try to keep something on hand that
I can have if I'm desperate, but that won't totally blow my calories etc.
Like a single serve bag of popcorn; or Total is now making a protein
cereal. Eat that dry. Just nibble on it. Keeps your hands busy. Sugar free
gum. Water. My brain doesn't really care what I'm eatting as long as I'm
eatting. Too bad they can't do brain surgery, too! Good luck, I know its a
struggle, but we CAN do this. Linda 238/136, 11 months on 4/29/04

Make sure you are not eating bad carbs (sugar, flour, etc.) and sticking
with complex carbs (fruit, veggies), drink tons of water and eat lots of
protein. I find that a handful of nuts helps curb the hunger for me. Good
luck to you.

Do you take protein supplements? Like shakes, powders, whatever?

Yes, I try to use protein shakes.... but would rather use real food. The
EAS low carb are the best.
