The best thing to do would be to contact your insurance company. Mine
(BC/BS federal) has a website with a provider directory. I also got names
and numbers when I called the customer service number. Your insurance
company does know who performs the surgery and the requirements for
payment, and they will most likely give you the information if you
specifically ask.

Hello. Go to www.bcbs.com and check the provider directory.

Mary, there's no such thing as a "Bariatric doctor or surgeon."
They are general surgeons who perfore bariatric surgery. You might want to
go to www.ASBS.org, and start calling the member surgeons who are closest
to you, but only after you've looked for their references on here. Also,
the ASBS is just an organization that they join, so if a doctor is not a
member, it doesn't mean (s)he is a bad doc, and conversely, if they are a
member, it doesn't mean they're a good surgeon. However, these members are
usually more "in the loop" as to our surgery, so it's probably
the best place to start. Good luck.
