Question:
I'va had all pre op testing but have switched doctors, will I have to retest ?
I went to BTC in Langhorne, Pa and went through all their pre op testing (EKG,stress test, sleep test and psych eval). I had Blue SHield at the time and even had an atho from them. I was just waiting for the facility to go "in network" with insurance. Then I lost my job/insurance. I now have HEalthguard HMO and BTC does not participate with them. There is a surgeon where I work who performs the procedure. Will I have to go through pre op testing again or, can my results be transfered? ALso, will it be easier to get an approval from Healthguard since another insurance company already approved the surgery once ? — Christy S. (posted on January 6, 2004)

I also changed surgeons after I did all the Pre-Op testing. I had all the
paperwork signed by the doctors saying the results of the tests so I made
copies and gave the copies to the new surgeon. All he wanted was more
blood drawn. That took about 20 minutes. If you don't have any of the
paperwork from the Pre-Op work, you can always get a copy of your chart and
give that to your surgeon. That is, if your surgeon excepts the results
from the first place. Ask him/her first, then u can get the results and
give him/her copies. Good luck!

I didn't have to repeat the tests. They were within 6 months of my surgery
date. My new doc did require a gall bladder sonogram that the previous
doctor didn't, so I had to have that done. Good luck, I hope you have
smooth sailing!
