Question:
Does anyone have trouble with hair being so snarled even after conditioner.
I am using the same shampoo and conditioner I have used for years and I am finding it so hard to get a brush in my hair it is like a nest. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it lack of protein maybe? Thanks for your help. I am by the way 6.5 weeks post-op and this started at about 3 weeks. — Lisa W. (posted on October 7, 2003)

Hi Lisa,
I'm a stylist (I live in Des Moines, WA. Close to you!). If you've been
using the same product for years, it might be time to switch. What are you
using? Cheap, store bought products are alot harsher than the salon
products. There is a difference!! When was your last trim? Also, remember
that the anesthesia and all the drugs they used on you comes out thru your
hair and nails (and can for 6 months!). Thats probably a factor it what is
causing the snarls too.

I don't think it's the shampoo. It's probably as the last posting stated,
the anethesia...etc. I've had the same problems although it's getting a
little better. My hair felt quite gross for awhile despite the expensive
shampoos and conditioners. I even went in to see my stylist for deep
conditioning treatments.

I am 17 months post op and when i begin to lose my hair , i noticed the
same problem with tangles. I cut my hair and got a perm, still my old
conditioner was no help. I switched to pantene and still use it , i just
love the stuff. worth the extra money to keep my hair feeling good. hope
this helps

Hi All,
I've not had the surgery yet,(Oct 13th) but this might help with the
tangles. When you first get your hai wet put in conditioner and brush it
thru. Then continue to wash and finish with your conditioner. I have hair I
can sit on and this works for me. Hope it works for you. Me too after
surgery

Hi Lisa. What you are describing is EXACTLY what happened to my hair just
before it started to fall out. I hope this doesn't depress you and maybe
it's not what's happening with your hair. I would shower and then get out
and I could not comb through it, it felt weird, dry, dead. This continued
during the beginning of the "falling out stage" and lessened
after I started using the Nioxin products. Although they did not decrease
the rate of hair loss, the products made my hair feel and look better. Good
luck to you! Shelley

I've been having a problem similar to this. My hair has been really dry
lately. I got a sample of TreSemme shampoo and conditioner and LOVED it!
The conditioner made it a lot easier to handle after the shower (my hair
has been permed and colored). Good luck!

I have very thick hair and have always had a time combing through my hair,
but it was definately worse after surgery. I bought some Aussie Slip and
now I have no problems at all!!

What the others have said is good -- about the anistesia (sp?), drugs,
stress, change in diet. You are taking in a lot less oil/fat which will
affect your hair and skin.
When I had tightly permed hair I'd shampoo, apply the cream rinse and COMB
IT THROUGH WHILE IN THE SHOWER before rinsing out. Also, get a BIG tooth
comb. Your hair will comb out easier with the big comb and while it's wet.
