Question:
I am 12 days post-op and have only lost 1 lb. since morning of surgery

At my pre-op appt I weighed 128. Then after the two days of prep, the morning of surgery I was 223. Now, after 12 days I'm only down 1 lb.(I was up to 139 5 days after surgery due to bloating). I know I will probably have a good loss soon, has anyone else started out this way? It's frustrating.    — Angela Q. (posted on September 20, 2003)

It is probably fluid weight gain. I gained 12 lbs in the hospital from the IV fluids! You will lose it plus lot more for the next year or so....don't worry. Relax and enjoy the journey.

I took home 17 lbs of fluid from the hospital. Some lose that fluid fast and some it takes weeks, so don't sweat it. Trust me the weight loss will come!

I went home with 30# of fluid from IVs. You will loose soon, just give your body a chance to loose that extra fluid.

i lost two pounds the first two weeks. one year, two months later i am down 158. your body will adjust, i know it is hard but be patient. good luck j
