You are so new in the post-op phase. NEVER hesitate to call your doctor
with any question you may have. Better to be safe then sorry.

I had the same thing after eating and drinking. It was just my new pouch
getting used to food and drink again! It lasted about two weeks, but was
not painful. Just a little unsettling. If yours is causing you pain,
though, you need to call your doctor.

I believe that this is a good thing. My Surgeon and Residents asked me
while in the hospital if I was hearing this and I'd wake to find them
listening as well. I believe that they'd be concerned if there weren't
things going on down there. At one week, I heard these sounds quite a bit
as did my son when he'd sit w/ me. He thought was quite funny. I don't
have all of that going on so much anymore at almost 3wks out.

I still get this at five months out, especially when I drink a volume of
liquid at a sitting. It seems perfectly normal and harmless, but if you're
concerend, or have any pain with it, call your doc.

Your stomach is non-funtional for weeks after surgery and that is why you
are on a liquid diet that progresses so slowly to solid foods. In the
beginning your stomach drains much the way a full bathtub would, just based
in gravity and the opening into youe intestines is very small so it gurgles
and bubbles on the way out. It is very normal and I do still get that if I
am really chugging my liquids sometimes. If you are scared or worried call
your surgeon for some reassurance.

I don't mean to be gross, but could this mean your "bowels are
working". I always thought that is what this meant. I always took it
as a good sign after ANY surgery.

Hi Tia, I had the same experience (read my profile) for a while. I would
make terrible dinosaur noises whenever I ate or drank. If it got really
bad I'd take a Gas X and it helped. Hang in there! :)
