Heather, I am also nine months out. It seems to me that I can eat between
6 and 8 ounces of food on a regular basis. Sometimes less, but not usually
more. What I find interesting is that I have begun recently to feel like I
can eat *so much* that I tend to put way more on my plate than I should. I
cannot eat it, but it's like my brain is saying that I can eat so-called
normal amounts now. I really don't know if this is a self-sabotage thing
or what, but I have noticed it and now make the effort to only get a very
small helping. If I am really and truly still hungry afterwards, I can
always add a little more. However, I don't want to get into the bad habit
of putting too much on my plate and feeling compelled to finish it up.
Better to start with too little than too much. Hope you're doing well with
your journey! I've been a slow loser, but I've lost 85 pounds with 15 to
go. I feel great and am thankful every day for this surgery. God Bless,
Gerry

I am not too far behind you. I am 6 mo post op (almost 7), down 116 lbs. My
doctor considers 4-6 ounces of food "medium" amount. That's what
I am eating and I am still losing quickly.

Doesn't sound out of line to me. I am 6-1/2 months and eat anywhere from
3-6 ounces, usually 4-5. Shrimp is one thing I can eat tons of and I
suspect sometimes it reaches 7-8 ounces. This seems to have become my
post-op food challenge. I don't have trouble leaving other stuff alone or
eating very small quantities, but shrimp just goes down so darn easy and I
usualy do not eat anything else with it, other than ketchup.
<p>If most meals you can keep in the 5-6 range then it would appear
to me things are fine. Just make sure it's mostly protein.

I am 9 months out too, and have not as a rule been able to eat that much at
all. If I make 2oz of a protien I am surprised as it does not happen that
often. What I am starting to feel is real hunger for the first time and as
others have said "carbs go down real easy". I can eat a lot of
carb ounces. So far the most I can eat is 1/2 of a cream cheese sandwich.
Three shrimps and I am full. I have been concerned that my portions are
still so small. Thanks for your question it has helped me too. Cathy

Interesting...My surgeon strictly says to NEVER eat more than 2 oz. at a
time, until you have reached your goal weight! What does everyone think of
that one?

Michelle, early out I would have nodded at my doctor and said "sure,
sounds great"...but at over a year out (and not quite to goal yet),
I'd be giving him what-for over the idea of 2 ounce meals until I reached
goal. For ME, that would not be even close to realistic and I'm afraid
that eventually I'd jump feet first off the band-wagon and start eating
wrong. I usually eat about 6 to 8 ounces 3 times a day and a 2 or 3 ounce
snack once or twice a day now. Still losing...slowly now, but going down
:>) I HOPE 2 ounces until goal works for you! Good luck!
