When you are denied by your insurance what is the next step
I'm in the beginning of trying to get approve for sugery I want to know if the insurance company denies you and there is no exclusion in your policy do you appeal yourself or use WALTER LINDSTROM — shae7755 (posted on August 17, 2003)

I would not use an attorney unless I had a really good reason - you should
be able to handle things yourself at this stage. You need to be clear
about the exact reason you are denied, and either point out their error or
fix what they want on your part. You can email me if you need more help on

If you are denied, let us know here exactly why you were denied. Lots of
folks have been through it and successfully appealed a denial. If you are
just starting the process, make sure you call your insurance company and
ask what criteria they use for approval, then make sure you meet all the
criteria before your first request is submitted. It's far easier to be
approved the first time if your ducks are all in a row!

I was denied by Aetna because I needed to appeal within 30 days. I did the
6 month diet and now they say that I waited to long to appeal. So, now what
do I do? Reapply as a new claim. How many times can you appply for this
surgery?
