Hi, Actually, yes...I never had constipation until by RNY. So my
gastroenteroligist suggested "Georges Aloe Juice". Not just any
aloe..Georges is distilled with no taste, smell or little pieces of aloe.
You may need to look around for it. I use a shot glass..which is one once
in the morning and one ounce in the evening. In the beginning to "get
going" I used 1 oz AM, 1 oz middle of the day, and 1 oz in the
evening. It's great and this came from the gastro guy who works with my
surgeon. Try it!!

I battled consiptation since surgery (about 8 months ago) rescently,
someone in the chat told me to try benefiber. (I've tried just about
everything else, and was even doing a suppository from time to time) The
Benefiber is 100% tasteless, with no grit- Just mix 2 tbs. with 4 oz of
liquids. This benefiber has SAVED me !!!! Best wishes !

My dr. recommends milk of mag. He said to take it every other day, or use
stool softeners.

I tried them all, but the first 2-3 months post-op, I was ALWAYS
constipated!! I have been regular for a month now. My secret: A cup or
two of light popcorn once or twice a week, a handful of sunflower seeds
every other day and lots of dark greens! I don't know if that's what did
it, but by golly, I'm regular again!

BENEFIBER! It works great. 2 tablespoons in 8 ounces of liquid everyday
does the trick for me. Try a fiber supplement before resorting to
laxatives. Your system can become dependant on laxatives/stool softeners
and that's the last thing you want.

I just asked this question at my six month check up last week and they said
that they recommend a few prunes, prune juice, or, as a last choice,
blueberries - which surprised me. As far as an over the counter product
they recommend Benefiber...which I had already been doing occasionally.

Hi! Unsweetened, pasturized Mott's Apple Juice. Two eight ounce glasses
(diluted to four glasses because of the sugar content) each day until I get
diahrrea, then I cut back to one, eight-ounce glass each day, and down from
there until I keep regular. It works for me! If I get constipated for some
reason, I just increase the amount of apple juice! LOL!! Better than any
otc or script! :~) Good Luck!

Hi there!
I have an easier, better tasting solution for you. Buy Colace. They are
small gel pills you can buy over the counter at Wal-Mart and they really
work. My surgeon recommended them as well, and I work with a lot of
patients who have constipation and that is what we prescribe.
Good Luck!

I had the same problem. I took fibercon tablets. They worked great. I
still take them from time to time, when needed.

Corn does the trick for me: corn on the cob, popcorn (few cups a night)
etc..I usually have a corn product every day or two and it works
wonderfully.

As a nurse, I suggest WARM prune juice or WARM prunes every morning to my
patients with constipation and they all report good results. It will
benefit you if you are able to tolerate the sugar in the juice.

I put Benefiber and Udos Choice Oils in my morning protein shake and I put
fruit in my protein drink (I only drink fruit flavored drinks). When it
gets really bad I use Milk of Magnesia. The combination works like a
charm.
