Question:
Has a 15 year old w/ a BMI of 53 ever been turned down by BCBS in AL?

Although everything has been submitted to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, a physician raised the question of whether or not BCBS would approve the surgery because of her age, which is 15. This really upset her and now she's very depressed. I have faith that she will be approved; I just want to know if there is anyone out there with the same concerns of wondering if age is a big factor in the decision making of the insurance company.    — Amy P. I'm 17 with a bmi of 54 and I just got denied by Cigna, for 2 reasons, and one of them being my age. They said that I would need to be 18.
