Question:
Does anyone know of any Support Groups in Hawaii?

Aloha Cindy, I am 10 weeks post-op myslef (lap RNY) altho I had my surgery at Kuakini with Dr. Lapschies.....what a wonderful doctor. Anyway, Kuakini sponsors a monthly support group which is open to all post-ops I believe, not just Dr. L's. I believe its the third Friday of the month, but call Kuakini's patient education line for exact dates. I'm still a newbie to it so I have to always call to check myself. If you are looking for a smaller, more personal group.... I really dont know. Start one, and I will come! How are you doing with sushi or sashimi? Do you avoid sushi due to the rice?

Oh wonderful thanks for the info I will definitely call them. Unfortunately I am still on the pureed diet, however I have sort of changed it so that the food is very soft and I can chew chew chew. Pureed food nauseated me. At 6 weeks they are supposed to upgrade my diet but until then no sugar or carbs. You should see me trying to eat locally without rice LOL. I can't wait to see how I handle local grinds but till then I am getting my fair share of tuna and applesauce.
