Question:
Does anyone have cost information for PA or NY?

My insurance will not cover surgery so I am in the process of gathering quotes. Does anyone have current (2003)cost information for gastric bypass surgery? I have tried LivLite at Kane but they are not interested in self pay patients.    — Margueite W. (posted on June 17, 2003)

I know I had gotten a bill for $22,111 from Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA and I believe a surgeon's bill of $8000. Thankfully, my insurance did pay for it but those bills were kind of scary to get! Hope this gives you some kind of idea.

I had my surgery done at LivLite in Kane. The cost for surgery was somewhere around $24000. I had slight complications after surgery so I imagine that raised the cost slightly. The pre op tests were somewhere around $3-4000 total. My insurance paid for all of it. If you don't mind my asking, why did your insurance turn you down and did you appeal? Linda
