Question:
hi! i know this question has been asked time and time again..but i've never asked, so
i'm goign to anyway :-). i'm 6 mos post op..down 104 pounds (yay me :-) j/k.) and i haven't lost anything persay in a few weeks and i've noticed i can eat more and call me paranoid..but how much should i be eating at this point in time? and how many calories? i think i get in about 600 a day, and i always get at least 60 g protein..so i'm thinkin', is this not enough? perhaps a reason why i've come to a VERY slow crawl lately? i want to get off another 50 pounds....advice please!!! — hdziema (posted on May 22, 2003)

Are you drinking plenty of water? I believe that 60 ounces is really a
minimum daily. Also 600 calories is not a lot. I am 4+ months post op and
eat about 800 a day and at least 75 grams of protein a day. I am still
losing at least 2 pounds a week and usually more. Boost up your calories
with protein and you will probably start losing again. Also if you are not
exercising, even adding a little walking can help a lot! I have never had a
plateau and have never had a non losing week. Good Luck!

I'll second that. I don't think that you are eating enough and if your
body thinks that you are trying to starve it (600 calories is definitely
starving), then it will hoard what weight is left and not let go too
easily. Boost up to at least 800 or 900. At 6 months, I think i was
eating at least 1000. Your doing great in the weight loss department, yay
you, and no reason why you can't lose the rest the want to lose. Boost the
calories, keep up the exercise and drink tons of water...
