Question:
When does the nausea pass???

I'm 2 months post-op and have days when the nausea is really bad. Makes it hard to get the fluids down. Will this pass? Is it normal?    — Debbie W. (posted on May 19, 2003)

Mine lasted about two months, almost like morning sickness. It got better after I choked down breakfast. I've heard of others lasting longer, but it does eventually pass. Hang in there!

I'm seven weeks and 52 pounds (down) today. For the past three days I have had this sick to my stomach feeling. Its gets better with saltines and drinking all my fluids. At this point I think it's just a matter of riding out the storm. I'm sure this will not be that last. After all the harder it is to get to where we want to be the more we may appreciate the journey. Good Luck!

I am 7 weeks post op and I have the same problem in the morning. I take pepcid chewable each morning which takes care of me for the day. After the pepcid, the nausea totally disappears. If it continues another week or so, the Doctor wants to do an endoscopy to make sure there is no stricture.

It will pass- I know it's frustrating right now though. I believe Cindy likened it to mrning sicknes. I've never ben pregnant, but I think that's what it would be like! I got nauseaus alot as well, over nothing in particular even, and I found that saltines helped alot! I kept a bag in my purse so I had it everywhere I went. Our stomachs are jut adjusting to all the new changes, but it will go away. Just hang in there :-)

Oh about 2 or 3 years...kidding! Seriously I stopped having that by my 4th month out for the most part. Sucks, doesn't it?

This is something you really should ask your surgeon about. It may be that your stoma has closed up some. If so, it's a fairly simple procedure to fix it. It may just pass on its own, but to be safe call your surgeon and ask about it.
