Question:
Is 1/2 a lean cuisine (9oz) at 5 months out too much?

My appetite has really increased lately. Is this normal? Thanks alot!    — jengrz (posted on April 22, 2003)

I'm 6 1/2 months out and sometimes I can eat a whole Lean Cuisine. I started eating them at about 5 months out and would only be able to eat the protein portion of it, so I don't think eating 1/2 of it is too much. Some days I'm able to eat all of it now, and some days still only the protein part. As long as you're focusing on the protein first then don't worry about it. :-)

I am 7mo. post-op and now I can eat up to 6oz. It all depends on the kind of food im eating. From what I understand, you are OK! I was worried about my pouch stretching and over eating, but all the advice was basicly saying your pouch will stretch over time and most people are eating up to 9oz. Good luck!

Another vote for "totally normal" here. It really does depend on what it is. I think I was able to eat a whole Lean Cuisine Ravioli at four months out, which horrified me at the time. I'm 11 months out, have not "blown up" so far, and did manage to reach goal (despite the occasional episodes of "I-Can't-Believe-I-Ate-The-Whole-Thing!" that happened along the way.)<P>I have since developed a habit of using Lean Cuisine Ravioli, or at other times, Mac & Cheese, strictly as a side dish -- I eat only half of the Lean Cuisine, and use a veggie burger (Boca Burger) as my "protein." I'll still do most of a Chicken Enchilada as a meal, though I don't always finish the rice.

I'm almost 7 months out, and can eat an entire Lean Cuisine Cheese Canneloni. Yum! It actually has a good amount of protein in it!

Jennifer, You're normal, I was doing that at about 5 months too, don't worry just keep track of what you, (Really watch what you eat) from this point forward, you'll see you'll be able to eat more, you just have to make the right decsions, and that lean cusine was the best one, I eat that one all the time..... No quams here.. My favorite is the rice dish by lean cusine. Oh yummy, I'm at 11 months post op and can finally eat a little rice, but that's the only kind I'll touch..... Hang in there and just make wiser choices.... By the look at it you're doing AWESOME ! Post op 11 months down 128 pounds

Totally normal - I think I was able to eat the whole thing at that stage in the game. Be sure to get plenty to drink (I know, I know 1 hour before and 1 hour after or whatever your surgeon recommends). But seriously - any kind of preprepared meal has lots of sodium so just get plenty to drink. I think you're doing GREAT!

Sounds like youre doing okay to me. Iam three months out and for lunch today I had about 1/2 of a 9oz portion. I ate all of the chicken pieces and a couple bites of the rice. Good Luck!

Hi there, I make 2 meals out of a frozen dinner like lean cuisine. Sounds like you're doing great. I'm 5 1/2 months post op and after a half of one I've had enough and am very satisfied. Keep up the good work. Hugs, Kim S. Open RNY Nov. 4/02 (-108)

just one more opinion here on the lean cusine subject. i at 5 months post op can eat a whole 9oz lean cusine. i wish i couldn't but i can. i think if you can only eat half that's great. considering most 8-9oz lean cusine meals are well under 300 calories your only taking in under 150 calories. that's nothing. try and keep your pouch as small as possible as long as possible. i'm losing slower than i would like to be but at least i'm losing right? kimberly open distal rny 11/12/02 -90lbs
