Question:
Seeking a nutrious meal plan at 4 months out.
I will be 4months post-op on April 3rd, I feel like I'm not organized with my meals, do anybody have a meal plan that works really well for them, like how many calories should I be getting in a day. — Tonisha P. (posted on March 26, 2003)

Goodness, trying to remember that far back, and others can certainly chime
in with more recent info, but I believe it was about 600 -700 calories a
day at 4 months. Don't you have a meal plan from your surgeon's office?
It amazes me that some surgeons do not have detailed plans for their
patients. I never really counted calories, just ensured that i ate
whenever hungry, concentrated on protein, tried to keep the carbs low or if
I had carbs they were the good ones (beans, veggies, fruits, whole grains),
low or no sugar and tons of water. At 4 months post op, I was eating
scrambled eggs with melted cheese for breakfast, 1/2 a meat sandwich for
lunch or a few ounces of grilled chicken or beef over salad, 1/2 protein
bars or cheese and crackers or popcorn for snacks, and for dinner 1/2 of a
lean Cuisine or grilled meat/chicken/fish (just a few ounces) with a
steamed veggie for dinner. There was also a time period when i ate every
few hours because I was hungry. This is OK too as long as the meals are
very small andfor the most part protein based. I would also have (and
still try to do at almost 14 months post-op), a protein shake a day.

Back in those days, I was only doing 2 protein shakes a day, and several 2
oz meals. I favored Gobble Stix (like a turkey hotdog, eaten raw (well,
cold not raw), a bit smaller), string cheese, a h/b egg, few apple slices,
coupla crackers with cheese or tuna...... not all together, of course! I
started eating 1 meal a day of whatever the family ate (minus milk &
sugar), but in eensy portions
