Question:
Has any one had problems digesting peanut butter during 1st month?
HELP !! I had some peanut butter this evening and I feel HORRIBLE for the last several hours - including vomiting and abdominal heaviness and slight pain. Any ideas??? I haven't had any problems until today- I am 2 weeks post-op as of today. Thanks !! — Kewpidoll (posted on March 18, 2003)

I also had problems early on. During the first week that I could solids, I
mashed up banana in a blender with peanutbutter. I hurt for several hours
like it was sitting in the middle of my chest. I never threw up, but
probably wished I could have to get rid of the pain! I can now eat it on
crackers with no problem.

I am almost 13 months post-op and I STILL have trouble with peanut butter.
And it is the smooth kind, not my beloved chunky. As this is the only food
problem I have now, I think I am pretty lucky. Nina in Maine

I'm almost 12 months post-op and I still have problems with peanut butter.
I'm so sad. I used to be the kind of person that needed a daily pb fix
just to survive. I will also dump on higher fat food, so because pb has a
lot of fat, that could be my issue. I'm not sure if I will ever be able to
eat it. For the most part, this is the only food issue I have, besides
sugar and high fat.

I had no trouble with the natural peanut butter. There is nothing but
peanuts and salt in it, and a little goes a long way. You may be trying to
early though, I was not allowed nuts in any form until I was 8 weeks.

I am 9 weeks out, and also dump on commercial peanut butter. I can eat
sugar; it was the fat that got to me. Yet I can eat peanuts just fine. In
fact they are one of the few foods that I find goes down well. Go figure!
