Question:
Pre-op sweating

Has anyone had excess sweating pre-op,then had no more problems after surgery?I don't mean hot flashes, this is all the time!    — Myra B. (posted on January 17, 2003)

I used to sweat so much, now it's only occationally. I am mostly cold now... it's winter in Missouri though... but I was so happy to see this change...I am down 90lbs in 6 months... so I have lost some insulation...

I used to sweat thinking to hard! LOL! It was awful, I hardly had to do anything strenuous and I was beat red and sweating, sometimes just walking around the house! Now I have to do a good work-out to break a sweat. It was horrible pre-op! I'd say that within 2 months it was back to 'normal'.

What a great benefit. I could not wear make-up because I sweated so much. Even in the winter. I am a teacher and I would sweat on my face so much it was embarrassing. Two months post-op and no sweat so far.

I used to sweat terribly pre-op but I am now 5 months post-op and rarely do except when exercising. Losing some of that insulation has done wonders for me!!

Myra, I always sweated for no reason all the time. If I sat in a chair my legs were so hot I left a wet spot...Now, I am only 6 weeks out and dont sweat like that!!!!Just another little bonus from the surgery I guess!!! Nancy

I used to always be hot before surgery. Now I am cold a lot. I never sweat anymore, not even when I work out.

This is so great to hear!!! I have been wondering about this. I am very fair skinned and whenever I get hot it is really apparent because I turn bright red!

Hi Myra...YES! Thank goodness, the sweating has lessened so much. Especially the "head sweats"....you know, when your hair is dripping wet and you look around and no one else's is? This has been one of the most wonderful benefits of losing weight/having surgery. The constant sweating before used to embarrass me so much....sometimes I just couldn't even leave the house. I go around now dry and comfortable (even in Florida where I vacationed recently) Hugs, Joy
