Question:
did anyone else have chills but no fever after surgery and is it OK to .....
take Flinstone Vitamins the chewables instead of the HUGE ones the MD gave me. I have been freezing for days now off and on. I took my temperature and no fever. No symptoms of an infection any where except for a small red tender spot beside my incision (i had open rny) since I had the chills and all I did call the MD and he put me on antibiotics incase it was a seroma. I have had 3 doses so far... it is still red and I am still freezing. anybody else do this??? and is it Ok to change vits w/o checking w/ MD I know that is what they are there for but it is hard to get through to their office. THanks for all of your wonderful help. — Leigh S. (posted on December 28, 2002)

Are you getting all your water in? I think chills without fever can be a
sign of dehyration (sp?) I have taken Flintstone since 6 days post op for
the last 4 months. You need to take two.

I was cold the minute I hit recovery and have been chilled ever since! Try
hot tea (decaf, of course)-
Our MD recommends flintstones, (uck!)
good luck

I took 2 Bugs Bunny Complete for the first 2 or 3 months...I highly
recommend the chewables over trying to swallow any huge pills for awhile.
Make sure you take the complete formula of children's vitamins no matter
which brand you choose...they have iron. Happy Recovery time! :) - Anna LAP

I was cold a LOT up until 2 days ago. I had my lap RNY on December 11. I've
read that it has to do with the blood thinners we get before and after
surgery. It makes sense to me, even if that's not the real reason. :)
Drink lots of hot tea, and sugar free hot chocolate!!

I'm 8 months post-op and I'm still cold! LOL I take all of my vitamins
and my bloodwork is fine, I'm just cold all the time now. Oh well, better
than always being hot and sweaty like I was pre-op!
