Question:
Will post-op pts. of Dr. P. Alston in Memphis share any post-op experiences?
I am waiting for final insurance approval and am VERY curious if any of you out there had any good and/or bad experiences with Dr. Alston or with Methodist Germantown Hospital. How long was the NG tube in? Thanks to all who answer in advance!!!! — Kewpidoll (posted on December 2, 2002)

I had surgery with Dr Alston on 9/20/02. I loved him as a surgeon. He
seemed to be more personable after the surgery. His office staff has been
wonderful. Helped any way that they can. I went in the hospital on Friday,
the NG tube came out on Saturday. My stay was at Baptist East, and even
that was excellent. I started at 252, and I am down to 209. My scar is very
minimal, and will hardly be noticed after the healing process is over. Dr
Alston and his staff are wonderful and experienced people. Good Luck, and
see you on the loosing side. Melissa

In my opinion Dr. Alston and his staff are a god send. They are the best,
very compasionate. I had my surgery 10-10-01 and do not remember having a
tube so it must have not been in long. I have had no major complications,
though I got thrush 2wks out and was very sick. Dr. Alston did not give up
until he found out what was wrong and was very sympathetic. I started at
296lbs and am now 170lbs. I go back i a couple of weeks for a check up and
hopefully talk about my reconstructive surgery. Good luck in your journey.

I am not a patient of Dr. Alston's. I had my surgery done by Dr. Cowan.
If Dr. Alston does not have a support group, i would like to welcome you to
be a part of ours. We meet the first Monday of every month at 5:30 at 920
Madison Ave., Suite 926. Our next regular meeting will be Jan. 6th. We
will have a guest speaker, Dr. Battle. He will talk about the
"head" issues we have after surgery, such as even though we've
lost 100+ lbs why we still see our selves as larger. Any one is welcome to
attend.
